Before applying VELA WOOD PRIME UNIVERSAL PU, ensure that the wooden surface is dry, stable, and clean. Remove dust, dirt, grease, wax, resin, mold, wood blue stain, and any loose or damaged parts of the old coating. The wood moisture content must not exceed 18%. Thoroughly clean previously painted surfaces, sand them until a firm, matte finish is achieved, and completely remove any sanding dust.
Mix the product until a homogeneous consistency is obtained and apply it using a brush, roller, airless sprayer, air-assisted (Airmix) sprayer, or pneumatic sprayer. If necessary, dilute with clean water: when applying with a brush or roller, add up to 5% water, and when using an airless sprayer, add up to 3%. The recommended coverage on planed wood is 8–10 m²/l, while on sawn wood it is 5–7 m²/l. Apply at an air and surface temperature between +5 °C and +30 °C and a relative air humidity below 80%.
Do not perform priming during rain, fog, or snow, in direct sunlight on strongly heated surfaces, or if precipitation is likely before the coating has dried.
